About Stefano Canturi:
Stefano Canturi began creating jewellery at the age of 21. There are currently three Canturi jewelry salons located in Australia and one in Las Vegas. In July 2009, Canturi opened his fifth store at 66th Street and Madison Avenue in New York. Canturi’s fascination with design and sculpture began at a young age when he would spend hours carving miniature sculptures out of chalk at the back of the classroom. While Canturi was in his last year of high school, his mother, who recognized Stefano’s talent and ability, encouraged him to visit an Italian master jeweller. Stefano instantly realised this was his life’s passion. During his apprenticeship, Canturi became fascinated with jewellry’s ability to marry artistic craftsmanship with the conceptual challenges of innovative design. Canturi devoted five years to intensive training before striking out on his own at just 21 years of age. Now 43, the designer continues to fuse inspiration with an in-depth knowledge of his craft. Setting his imagination free, he conjured a revolutionary composition of diamonds that forms the basis of his sought after Cubism collection. Cubism cradles the essence of Canturi Jewels – the exquisite balance between concept and form. Inspired by the innovative mood of the Cubism art movement that saw artists break with convention to explore abstract and non-traditional styles, Canturi’s signature Cubism design pioneered an arrangement of baguette and carré cut diamonds in a geometric pattern never before seen in luxury jewels. The geometric lines, delicately arranged in curved patterns work in concert to deliver perfectly proportioned jewels that are incredibly romantic and timeless yet reflect innovation and avant garde design at its best. Canturi has collaborated with Academy Award winning filmmakers to design and craft history-making jewels, most notably for Nicole Kidman in the movie “Australia”  and the  ‘Satine’ necklace (above) for her role in “Moulin Rouge”. Canturi designs have been worn by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Linda Evangelista and Kylie Minogue. His designs have been featured in international fashion magazines such as the cover of UK’s Harper’s & Queen, US Vogue, US Harper’s Bazaar and have been seen on the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld and Oscar de la Renta.
